00:02I feel like I'm Cupid on this earth.

00:05Believe me,

00:06I know exactly how

00:07a perfect date begins.

00:09Usually that spark is a good thing.

00:11Unless it's with the one person

00:13you absolutely shouldn't want.

00:17It's been two years since Annie died.

00:19She was my best friend and Adam's love.

00:21And she'd hate to know what I'm thinking now.

00:24And no, this isn't a date.

00:26His daughter is here.

00:28So is my boyfriend,

00:29which somehow doesn't help.

00:32We do this every year for Annie.

00:34A sweet tradition, a completely harmless tradition.

00:37To Annie.

00:38To Annie.

00:39Or at least that's what I thought at the time.

00:42They're all lying to you.

00:44She's drunk.

00:45Get her out of here.

00:49And that's where it started.

00:51One dead woman's final wish, one terrible idea.

00:54This came from Annie's lawyers today.

00:57It's to both of us.

00:58Really? Why me?

00:59Don't know.

01:00Read it.

01:04Dear Adam and Stevie,

01:06It's been two years since my death.

01:09So to mark this milestone,

01:10I have engaged Stevie's dating agency

01:12to help Adam find love again.

01:14What?

01:15The hardest part of this is knowing how lonely you'll be.

01:19So my final wish is for you, Adam,

01:22to find happiness.

01:24Don't worry, sweetheart, I'm not doing that.

01:26These are her final wishes.

01:28Well,

01:28and Annie's already paid in full.

01:30Says so right here.

01:31What's the waste of money then?

01:34Isn't it time?

01:36Annie wants me to help Adam move on,

01:37but how can I do that when I like him?

01:39Nobody's going to change my mind.

01:42Not even you, Stevie.

01:44That was my chance to walk away.

01:47I didn't.

00:03I know what you're thinking.

04.67Great boots, successful career, future COO of Foreverly.

08.04At least that's how the story was supposed to go.

10.37What?

16.49So,

17.52after 30 years of leadership,

19.42I'll be retiring.

21.22And finally, I felt my promotion coming.

23.55The dating space has never looked more precarious.

26.75If we're going to do more than survive against the apps,

29.55we need to keep delivering matches that are happy,

31.85credible, and successful.

35.75So, it is imperative

37.35that I choose the right person as COO to replace me.

45.55This month,

46.75the highest performer will be promoted.

49.45After years of hard work, that promotion was basically mine.

52.85No, not Elle.

54.25The boss's niece, my biggest competition wrapped in perfect hair and family connections.

59.45I've had 11 signups this week, Uncle Garrett.

02.55All high net worth individuals.

04.55The woman who pushes you towards sharks and then asks if you're okay.

07.85Signups are good, but we need high profile signups.

11.15Matches are where the real money's made.

13.65What are you up to now, Stevie?

14.75This year, I've had 21 matches, two weddings, and a baby.

19.65And I've just signed up reality star Chloe V.

29.65Stevie, that's brilliant.

31.45Chloe V will bring a lot of exposure to Foreverly.

34.25Now you see, this is the kind of business acumen that I'm talking about.

38.25We could all learn a few things from Stevie.

40.35There's something else.

00:01I have a new client,

00:02Adam.

00:03He's the widow of Annie,

00:05my best friend.

00:07Annie Hartfield?

00:08The big shot writer?

00:09Well, well.

00:11Stevie's gone and landed us a unicorn.

00:13What do you mean?

00:14He means handsome,

00:16tall,

00:17eligible.

00:18And rich.

00:18Then it makes more sense to give it to me.

00:20More professional that way.

00:22But you don't know him.

00:23Exactly.

00:24I'm just thinking of you, babe.

00:26You were a wreck when she died.

00:27And we need to nail this.

00:29Right, Uncle Garrett?

00:31Now she will get him as a client?

00:32No, no,

00:33not the guy who can help with my promotion

00:35and who I shouldn't even be thinking about.

00:38Stevie.

00:39Elle.

00:42Elle hates losing.

00:43Unfortunately, so do I.

00:45Which is probably why this was about to get ugly.

00:51Here's what we're going to do.

00:52Promote me, of course.

00:54You'll both get a chance to present your strategy.

00:56Best pitch wins the client.

00:58What the hell?

00:00Best pitch wins the client.

00:01That's not what Annie wanted.

00:03Well, I know how close you were with her, Stevie, but

00:05Hear me out.

00:06Foreverly is all about the personal touch,

00:08right?

00:09Let me look after Adam.

00:10He's my oldest friend.

00:11He deserves the best.

00:12Statistically, that would be me.

00:14Signups aren't everything.

00:15You both get great results

00:17in different ways.

00:18So you're making this a contest?

00:20You're making this personal.

00:21Is that really in Adam's best interests?

00:23You don't mind a little healthy competition,

00:25do you, Stevie?

00:26Normally, no.

00:27But Annie wanted me to do this.

00:29It said so in her letter.

00:31Did it?

00:31I don't recall that.

00:32Yes, you have the letter.

00:34Wait.

00:35You had it just a minute ago.

00:37You see?

00:38This is what I worried about.

00:39Hardly COO behavior.

00:41I get this is hard for you, Stevie.

00:44How can you help Adam get over Annie

00:45when you're still not over her?

00:48Classic L.

00:49Smile first, stab second.

00:51L has a point.

00:52You're such a good friend.

00:54But is that what Adam needs right now?

00:56I know you can't help getting invested

00:58in your clients, but

00:59I just think this one could do

01:01with a little more detachment.

01:03She wants to turn this into a war?

01:05Fine.

01:06I plan to win.

00:02So it's simple.

00:03The key to successful dating is listening.

00:06Listening to the client,

00:07listening to their matches.

00:09That's all you need to get the right outcome.

00:12It also helps when your biggest rival

00:14isn't sitting right there waiting for you to fail.

00:16Elle.

00:17You have a question?

00:18This all sounds great,

00:20but what are you actually basing your matches on?

00:22What I've always based it on.

00:24Instinct.

00:25And when it comes to chemistry,

00:27Stevie knows what makes people click.

00:29What do you think, Adam?

00:30If this is what Annie wanted,

00:32when do we start?

00:33Well, let's hear from Elle for an alternate approach.

00:35I prefer a method that's more scientific.

00:38Translation, turning romance into homework.

00:42How about a quick break?

00:44I ordered pastries.

00:45Great idea.

00:46Then we'll reconvene for Elle's pitch.

00:48You crushed it.

00:50Oh no, murder smile.

00:52Thanks, Elle.

00:54May the best woman win.

00:55And may the worst woman lose.

00:58Because something told me Elle wasn't done fighting yet.

01.61Looking back, I should have been a lot more worried

03.11about what she was planning.

00:18I'd like to think I'm a professional.

02:82What happened next suggests otherwise.

05:28This candidate matches with Adam,

07:30not only in terms of salary,

08:70but in mutual hobbies.

10:78Sports, travel,

12:62and the socio-political values test

14:22that we carried out.

17:18which brings me on to my final candidate.

20:18Let's see how long that lasts.

24:26Now, I know what you're all thinking.

26:82That's bold.

27:62What's so special about number four?

29:38Well, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

31:50Go on.

32:30While metrically, she scores lower on salary,

35:38in every other area, she's a perfect match.

38:34And in looks and personality, she's a high hitter.

42:34I'd go so far as to call her a

44:02unicorn, if you will.

46:22Something funny, Stevie?

48:30Do you usually pitch yourself to clients

50:30or just the rich ones?

52:82Is this how you normally go about

54:22matching people?

55:66No, no, I I don't know how that got there.

58:38Hardly COO behavior.

00:46I've been set up.

01:98Oh God, I was going to regret

03:58all of this.

00:00Pro tip.

00:01If you're going to break the rules,

00:03don't get caught.

00:04Adam, I can only apologize.

00:06I don't know what Elle was thinking.

00:07We never pitch our girls as dates to clients.

00:09I can assure you.

00:11No harm done.

00:12Well, I hope some harm was done.

00:14Matchmakers are strictly off limits for clients.

00:17It's company policy.

00:18That wasn't me, Uncle Garrett. Why would I do that?

00:20Sorry, Elle, you had your chance to pitch.

00:22Stevie, we'll work with Adam for his first match.

00:27Elle, you can manage the second one.

00:29Adam was my client.

00:30Back then, I thought I wouldn't fail him.

00:32Let's face it.

00:33Stevie usually gets it right the first time.

00:35Thanks, Garrett.

00:36I won't let you down, either of you.

00:38For what it's worth,

00:40I really enjoyed your pitch, Elle.

00:42This isn't over.

00:45We'll leave you to it.

00:50That was you, wasn't it?

00:52That little stunt?

00:54Me?

00:54That? No way.

00:56This is all one big joke to you.

00:59Am I a joke to you?

01:00Adam, of course you're not.

01:02I am not your plaything, Stevie.

01:04That...

01:05that was humiliating.

01:07How could he think that?

01:09I would never hurt him.

01:11I care too much about what he thinks of me.

00:00A good apology should be thought carefully.

02.19It shouldn't start with you running after the person through an office.

05.93Adam, wait. I'm sorry.

08.23I am here for three dates and then I am done.

10.53Three dates? Come on, Adam, I was just kidding.

13.23I thought you'd laugh.

14.83Annie would have.

17.03Look, I shouldn't have done it.

19.83It was unprofessional.

21.43I mean it.

22.43Three dates.

24.33You have no idea how much of a waste of time this is.

27.83Fine, dating's not for everyone.

30.33I'm just not sure about any of this.

32.13I haven't been on a date in years.

34.13I wouldn't even know where to start.

35.83Well, we could do a practice one.

37.33I'll coach you.

38.33Over lunch.

39.53Sounds a lot like a date.

41.13Like a date, only it's a rehearsal.

45.23What's this about a date?

46.23Jeremy.

47.43I forgot you worked here.

49.13Oh, yeah.

50.03Head of legal for my sins.

52.23So, taking my girlfriend on a date?

54.23We'll be back in an hour.

56.93Okay.

57.33Well, you're in excellent hands.

00.33I'll see you in an hour for your quarterly review.

03.33And don't forget, it's a it's an important one.

06.43It seemed harmless, lunch with Adam.

00:07Football or tennis?

00:08Ultra marathons.

00:09Okay, got you.

00:10Dogs or cats?

00:11Neither.

00:12They're parasites in servitude.

00:14So,

00:15a few red flags,

00:16but I have notes.

00:20You hate dogs,

00:21and you love dogs.

00:22Is that why you never got one?

00:24Thank God I never caved.

00:26Otherwise it would have been another thing she left me with.

00:29I didn't mean that.

00:32Well, I'm pretty sure your daughter feels the same way about you.

00:37Do you and Amelie talk a lot?

00:39Most days,

00:41but that's between us.

00:43Now ask me a question.

00:45All right.

00:47So what are you looking for in a relationship?

00:49You.

00:50Wow.

00:51We're not unpacking that.

00:52Too deep. That's too deep.

00:54No, no, it's fine.

00:56A bit bold for a first date, but

00:58if you like her...

00.73Stevie, client,

02.43dead best friend's husband, focus.

04.67Say I like her.

08.31I guess I'm looking

09.44for someone to grow old with.

11.51Go the distance.

14.21Like an ultramarathon.

15.51Sure.

16.68It's the ultimate race.

43:30You did brilliantly today.

44:80You don't have to flatter me, Stevie.

46:70I'm not.

52:50Like he'd go for a line like that.
